What Can This Tool Be Used For?

Stock tickers are just another tool in the many tools that are available to stock traders. They can either be downloaded, or viewed in your web browser.

There are many settings that you can change on this software. Each one has it's own purpose, depending on what type of research you are doing at the time.

You can even look at past stock prices of a stock, if this is what your research supports.

Where Are They Most Popular?

When I think of a stock ticker, I usually think of the ones that scroll along the bottom of one of the business channels, like MSNBC (my favorite).

Another thing that comes to mind is downtown Manhattan, where they have a large scrolling ticker display proudly displayed for everyone to see. During my recent trip to New York, I happened to visit the financial district (since stock trading is one of my passions). Well, turns out they have another large ticker display on Wall Street as well.

Who'd have guessed?

Well, it was my first time actually visiting that area as I can recall andmy first time seeing it. It was also nice to see some of the history that I have been writing about, like the corner that the first exchange was located (corner of Wall and Water St.).

Anyways, back to what we were talking about...

How To Find The Right Stock Ticker

This software is pretty easy do download. You just have to find the right one. Most have common features amongst themselves. However, even with this, they still differ in appearance and settings.

Easy, Convenient, Always Running

After you download the software, you just run it like you would any other program. This program will run in the background. You can also set it to open as soon as you start your computer if you're that much of an active trader.

So, basically, you have it running in the background so it's not a distraction. Another cool feature of this software is that you can put it places that don't bother your other work, like on the top of the screen. Say you are browsing the web...

You can view it on the top of the screen and it will stay above your current window so you can browse regularly and still look at quotes all day.
